Miscanthus lutarioriparius

Miscanthus lutarioriparius, an endemic Miscanthus species in middle and low ranges of the Yangzi River of China, can grow up to 7 m tall and has the highest biomass production among four major Miscanthus species that widely distributed in China. It is found to have good paper-making properties, which is one way to change the shortage of raw materials for paper-making industry in China. The species is considered to be a promising second-generation energy crop because of its high biomass production and strong adaptability through high photosynthetic rates, water use efficiency and strong tolerance to drought and salt when growing on the marginal land.
